Bio Training and the Wall,
Training for biohazard remediation and crime scene cleanup is important and essential in our business. It ensures that our people are ready to work safely and do the job right. At Exit Cleanup we train our people on many things such as dealing with people with compassion, tools, proper cleaning and disinfection methods for contaminated bloodborne pathogens, emergency cleaning, biohazard remediation, how to work together with the client, and so much more so when we realized not everyone understands the way a home is built or what dangers are lurking in a home, we decided to build a new training tool to teach them safety for themselves and for the client as well.
So, we built a wall. Sounds crazy I know, but many people that can clean well may not understand construction so its a good idea to show them a few simple things that this model has. We can train them to clean properly for
biohazards and
hoarding issues but this gives our newly employed an inside look at what they may encounter, such as electrical wiring and water pipes. no one want to accidently cut either.
This model also gives them a chance to see and feel the different materials we come into contact with in case they haven't before. Cutting baseboards and dry wall is something we do often but its good to know it.
And of course the real reason I built this, the main reason, the one thing that this model was really built for was safety when it comes to the most dangerous thing we come across on almost every job,
CARPET TACK STRIPS! These little lovelies can be the most dangerous hidden things that we deal with.
Carpet tack strips line the perimeter of every room that has carpet. they are wooden strips with hundreds of tiny steel very sharp nails that face up to hold the carpet in position. But in a biohazard, they can be extremely dangerous.
Why? Because these can easily go through gloves and even some shoes, so if these are covered in blood or biological fluids they can cause a puncture incident. That is always our biggest concern in biohazard cleanup of course. I want all my people
safe and sound and we train so they stay that way. We don't want contaminated blood or bloodborne pathogens entering anyone's bloodstream. It is always important to keep everyone safe, that's why we are there in the first place, to make the situation safe and visually better for our clients. And I want our people trained well so they can do their job properly and professionally and go home safely at night knowing they did a good job and that they themselves are safe and working in a very safe manner. It all comes down to training.
