Who is Exit Cleanup?

Valek Sykes, the owner of Exit Biohazard and Crime Scene Cleanup has worked in Special Effects for the film industry for over 20 years and owns his own special effects studio (Tech Works Studios) and has also taught at the film department at Tulane University. He has worked on many films and shows that you have probably seen such as Men in Black II, Garfield, Minority Report, Jurassic Park 3, DeepWater Horizon to name a few. He has even had his own TV show "DOING DAVINCI!" on the Discovery Channel. His dedication to detail and talents have had him work all over the world and become a leader in the industry. So much so that with his talents and military background he has even been asked specialty disguise work for the F.B.I. / D.O.J. to infiltrate a terrorist network. You can hear more about it on our Blog page.

He has danced and sang with Jamie Foxx, violently argued with Tom Cruise, partied with Will Smith and been personally asked to be in a film by Steven Spielberg (A.I.). His credits are vast and can be seen on his Tech Works Studios Company page. So, what does this have to do with Crime Scene Cleanup?

HELPING OTHERS IS BETTER THAN WORKING WITH MOVIE STARS

Well after years of working with movie stars, creating creatures, props and fake crime scenes for films he was asked to look into the crime scene cleanup world for a possible project. After contacting a company for the project, he was invited to join them for a couple cleanups, one a shotgun suicide and the other a double homicide. Realizing that he was not at all intimidated by these since recreating crime scenes involves a lot of real research with very detailed pictures and videos, and he saw the need for this service in the world, he saw how it helped others when they needed it the most. He said it was like a light went off in his head, thinking that he could do this and help people with compassion and professionalism which he thought was needed. It was time to exit the film industry and help others. He sought out to find the best way to learn this, where professionalism, safety and compassion were embraced not over looked so he investigated further and found a training company called Amdecon. This company had decades of real experience and they held and taught a very high standard of Biohazard remediation which was the only way that he would accept it having such high standards himself. He took the training and found himself dedicated to becoming the best at this very important emergency service. Soon after he started Exit Biohazard and Crime Scene Cleanup and hasn't looked back. He is still the owner of the FX studio, but he has left the day to day to his crew to make Exit the best it can be.

The film industry was impressive and very interesting, but it didn't fill the hole that service to others could. He felt it was time to make his Exit from the film industry.  The act of helping others in their time of need and creating a business with the highest of standards is what changed his life and career. He wanted to create a business that was more important than what the entertainment industry could provide so he started Exit Cleanup and a business he could be proud of.
